Giving Back
Supporting hearing health in our community and around the world
As a family-owned clinic, we believe that hearing care is about more than better hearing, it is about improving quality of life, strengthening relationships, and helping people stay engaged with the world around them.
These values extend beyond our clinic walls. For many years, Smiles From Ear To Hear has supported charitable hearing healthcare initiatives both locally & internationally, helping provide hearing care and hearing aids to communities that may otherwise go without.
Through partnerships with organisations such as the Starkey Hearing Foundation, as well as independent missions organised by the family, we have been privileged to support hearing health projects in Portugal, Peru, El Salvador, and here at home in Canada.
Our Journey
Every mission has shared a common goal: helping more people experience the life-changing impact of better hearing.
2014 | Portugal – Mainland
The Valente family's charitable hearing healthcare journey began in mainland Portugal, supporting individuals and communities with access to hearing care and hearing technology.
2016 | Peru
In October 2016, Smiles from Ear to Hear joined the Starkey Hearing Foundation on a mission to Peru.
Working alongside hearing healthcare professionals from around the world, the team helped fit hearing aids and provide hearing care services to members of the local community.
June 2017 | El Salvador
In June 2017, the team travelled to El Salvador as part of a Starkey Hearing Foundation mission. The trip marked the 10-year anniversary of Canadian audiologists participating in the organisation's international humanitarian hearing healthcare programmes.
2017 | Toronto, Canada
Giving back starts at home. When the Starkey Hearing Foundation brought one of its hearing missions to Toronto's Rogers Centre, Smiles from Ear to Hear proudly joined the effort, helping provide hearing care and support within our own community.
May 2018 | Portugal, Azores (São Miguel & Terceira)
In 2018, the Valente family organised an independent charitable mission across the Azores, providing hearing care services on both São Miguel and Terceira islands.
The mission reflected the family's ongoing commitment to supporting communities in Portugal and ensuring more people could benefit from better hearing and stronger connections with those around them.
